On Sunday 3rd June, MAC Tools V8 trophy driver Tony Hurdle took his BEN backed car to a display in Twyford, Berkshire. It was as a favour to his previous boss who is in charge of fundraising for the local Scout troop. He wanted something different on display and thought the car would be just the job. It would also be a good way to highlight the series to a new audience and encourage them to come to the next round.
The car was driven in with a cover over it. When revealed, it immediately attracted a good crowd. Over the next few hours, many people came along to look at the car and ask questions about the series, Rockingham and took part in a raffle to guess the fuel consumption of the car. The crowd grew even bigger once the engine was fired up. A few blips on the throttle had people jumping!!! Parents were able to take pictures of their children in the car which many thought was really great.
Many of the people had not heard of Rockingham but were very keen to come along in the future especially when they were told of the charity links and ticket deals. There were also some people from the local press who will hopefully put something in the next editions to help raise the profile higher still.
All in all a successful afternoon’s promotion of the series.
